I had the same type of experience. i was in mexico and caught a scopion and want to bring it back to the USA to do some art with it, but i needed it dead too. i placed the scorpion in a waterfilled coke bottle, it was underneath water for 3 days before i fly out of mexico. I swear that scorpion as dead as a door nail, it was upside down, hadn't breath air in 4 days underwater.. i took i out, place it one the kitchen counter to dry out and used a stick to arrange his legs and tail how i wanted before he stiffened up.. he was really soggy and limp.. so after posing him perfectly, i left for a few out. returned and noticed he was not on the counter where i left him.. My heart was in my throat thinking that scorpion was loose in the house.. i eventually found him 3 feet away under a magazine. this time he was dead.. That dang thing came back to life and ran and hid before actually dieing.. Suspending animation i guess... true story

sewing thread made into a noose around the tail and chuck it over the fence into the field...(or further with fisherman style handline casting throw). especially if it wants to jump, make the bugger fly! the thread eventually dissolves and scorpio is unharmed.
