So Chinky Pinky sent me this email, which though not exactly original rings very true:

Ticket to Sri Lanka $1435
Changing the ticket coz the travel agent was stupid $86

Phone bill for bitching about changing the ticket $40
Spending New Year’s Eve in Sri Lanka - PRICELESS!

Of course the heartache I had to go through for that end objective was a bit more than detailed above as was the amount I spent on my ticket, but the benefit to my mental health should be disproportionately larger. On that note is there anyone around for some quiet drinks, discuss blogging, photography, life in general? If so hit me up, childof25@gmail.com

On the note of making connections does anybody know this chap Viraj Senewiratne featured in the Sunday Times this week? Ok ok I know it’s a bit dodgy trying to get hold of a 30 year old Thomian, in fact both Chinky Pinky and R on being asked this question snorted and mentioned that six months in San Francisco was probably six months too long. Fear not though I don’t have any nefarious intentions on this fine young gentleman I was just taken with the possibility that there might be some environmental entrepreneurs in sunny Sri Lanka and think that connecting with such people can only be a good thing. So if anyone does know him…please do let me know.

P.S. Was that request weird and stalkerly? I really hope not.

I took the plunge finally, after six years, hot water, new razor and plenty of moisturizer.

What it was:

Well maybe not this bad….but you get the picture

What it is now:

Again, obviously not literally…because that would be a bit weird

Currently my face feels like this

Cricket captain thinks I look like a 10 year old and to be completely honest I am a bit surpised by what I see in the mirror. CP’s reaction when she swings by should be interesting as should be the fam’s on Monday.

I’m just really hoping the fiery sensations shooting across my face dies down soon.

MoviesDecember 14, 2006 6:09 am

My second post in response to being tagged, thanks to the Canadian wanderer (I think that’s a fairly close approximation of to rastiadu karaya right?). So here goes for an expose of my rather poor taste in movies. Oh yeah can someone please explain to me what a meme is?

1. Popcorn or Candy
- Candy every time, bags and bags of M&Ms.

2. Name a movie you’ve been meaning to see forever
- Willow, yeah you heard me, Willow. Put this down to playing the game as a kid on my Nintendo back in the day and an unhealthy obsession with fantasy based movies, games and books.

3. You are given the power to recall one Oscar: who loses theirs and to whom
- I don’t really follow the Oscars but….I would probably take the Best Actor and Best Movie Oscars from Tom Hanks and Forrest Gump and give it to Morgan Freeman and Shawshank Redemption.

4. Steal one costume from a movie for your wardrobe. Which will it be?
- Costume? What about what some of the outfits from Lock, Stock, Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch, or maybe even Layer Cake…would those funky, slick outfits fit the bill?

5. Invite 5 movie people over for dinner, who are they? What would you feed them?

- Morgan Freeman (Shawshank Redemption is one of my favourite movies)
- Nandita Das (stole this one off you Rastiadu!)
- Edward Norton – absolutely brilliant actor
- Natalie Portman (hotness, and more hotness)
-Jet Li (ask for some punching points)

Homemade chicken curry and parippu anyone?

6. Your favourite film franchise is?
- My geeky side loves the “original” Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Also like Deepa Mehti’s Fire, Earth and Water, especially Fire and Water.

7. What is the appropriate punishment for people who answer cell phones in the movie theatre?
- Phone set on high vibrate (if there is such a thing) and shoved where the sun don’t shine

8. Choose a female bodyguard
- Princess Leah in the famous gold bikini and a lightsabre…cough….cough…possibly too much information there.

9. What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever seen in a movie?
- Hayden Christenson in Star Wars who single handedly nailed the last nail in the Star War’s coffin. Oh yeah and on a more serious note…the fuck upped backstabbing in Closer, makes me never want to have a serious relationship.

10. Your favourite genre (excluding comedy and drama)
- Fantasy movies (not the sex kind you pervs!) and martial arts.

11. You are given the power to greenlight movies at a major studio for one year. How do you wield this power?
- umm…greenlight a movie I guess? Well greenlight some movies that are actually somewhat intelligent…shoot the person who proposes the next Scary Movie.

12. Bonnie or Clyde
- who?

Who do I tag?….hmmm….Evil, who doesn’t seem to read this blog anymore..shock..horror! bastard….

Who could say no to this!

Ok so contrary to some expectations this blog has not passed the way of the dodo, at least not yet. I’ve just been taking an extended break due to some unforeseen circumstances but came out of retirement due to Rythmic’s tagging of me for the Movie Quiz, so here goes!

1. CD or vinyl – really neither, I do like how my CD collection used to look on my shelves, but these days everything musical I won is on various computers, DVDs (as back up) and my trusty iPod.

2. An album you’ve been meaning to listen to – all the Super Furry Animals albums (Fuzzy Logic, Guerilla, Rings around the World) which I’ve listened to but not as thoroughly as I should.

3. Grammys - Important or a load of bollocks – bollocks, well bollocks most of the time

4. Your favourite album is – rather unsurprisingly “Final Straw” by Snow Patrol closely followed by “Leftism” by Leftfield, both of which I have to thank for an indelible image of a pair of long brown legs in a frilly black mini that comes to mind whenever I play either album.

5. Invite 10 Music people for dinner. Who will it be? That would be Gary Lightbody, Morissey, Paul Oakenfold, the boys from Asian Dub Foundation (who would count as one), Kaskade, Nirmala (used to sing for Controller.Controller), Jay-Z (to pick his business brains), Russell Simmons (same reason as before), Nicole & Melody from the Pussycat Dolls (OK, I’ll admit the’re eye candy, the former is the hottest thing I have ever seen in my life and the latter looks remarkably like a girl I dated for a minute in grad school).

6. Appropriate punishment for those who play Celine Dion’s "My heart will go on" while pretending that it’s still 1998 –abduction and anal probing by Celine’s alien crewmates and then made to live in the north of Canada.

7. Choose your favourite instrument and its best player from your point of view. Hmm….guitar I guess and the best for that would be Santana.

8. The one piece of music that can move you to tears – Jason Donovan, “sealed with a kiss” moves me to tears, followed shortly by nausea and violent contractions of my small intestine (thank ITN in the early nineties for this affliction).

9. You are an executive at a major label and have the power to green light one album a year. What would you do? – probably get Krishan and Randhir to collaborate, fine tune it for a global market, sell it and make me and them millions.

Hmmm….who should I tag, I guess I tag Evil, Rastiadu (who seems to have bloody good taste in music) and Venus(to try and bring her out of retirement!)…go forth and spout wisdom!

Or this!?
